HEATING UP
Spicy opinions on things we care about for reasons
one / Russia Bans Foreign Messaging Apps
Russia banned 9 foreign messaging apps today, and of course the announcement was bu. They made it seem like they were banning all messaging apps, but in reality they picked on companies that were mean to them. Among those listed: Discord, Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Snapchat, Telegram, Threema, Viber, WhatsApp, and WeChat.
Our favorite head scratchers:
Hugely popular apps not listed: Google Chat, Zoom, Signal, iMessage, WebEx
We refuse to believe companies chose to stay on Skype for Business
The rest of the world may trust Telegram, but we don’t

ACQUIRED: Cisco (post Series A)
DATE: February 24, 2023
CEO: Vishal Jain
WHAT: Cloud Security
Our Take
Last week, Cisco acquired Valtix to shore up their pharmaceutical cloud security business for an undisclosed amount.
Heading to their site, we expected to see people frolicking in a field, but were surprised by a very clear headline.

MULTICLOUD SECURITY IN 5 MINUTES
The Message Is Clear
Valtix's positioning is crystal clear:
Category: Cloud Security
Promise: Easy Setup
Target Audience: Cloud Architects
Navigation is Well-Designed and Easy to Use
No surprises here, and everything is where it should be. Valtix doesn’t use cute language or hide menu items in the footer like a second-class citizen, which is unfortunately all too common these days.

Valtix Has a Pricing Page? Unheard Of!!!
I'm not sure if the Valtix team knows that when targeting enterprise customers, pricing is typically hidden behind the SDR team and requires sacrifice of your firstborn.
A quick glance may give you an idea of pricing, but unless you have a good understanding of your log storage needs, you'll need to provide your email and contact the sales team (for the enterprise it’s a requirement).

Clean and Compelling Site
Cybersecurity startups should take note, the Valtix site is CLEAN and invites you right in. It makes you want to click the Free Tier to give it a try.
Cloud security in 5 minutes.
Why yes, I want that.
